To say we were lucky with Sharon and Bill’s wedding weather was an understatement. Over the Xmas and New Year week, Surrey & much of the UK experienced extreme weather conditions, with flooding, high winds, power cuts and very heavy rain fall. So when we woke on their wedding morning to bright blue skies and sun we couldn’t quite believe it.
Sharon and Bill married on 29 December and held their reception at Gate Street Barn. It was special date as it was also the anniversary of when they met. Guests and family joined them to celebrate their Christmas wedding including Bill’s mum, Kathryn, who is a professional opera singer, she performed One Hand, One Heart, during the ceremony which was magical. The barn was decorated in pine cones, elaborate moss covered table centrepieces and cream roses and the evening reception was beautifully lit by candle light. A large decorated Christmas tree took pride of place in the Phesantry.
Sharon’s wedding car, was in its own right, a celebrity as it had been used in the film, The Kings Speech and when I saw it coming down the lanes to Gate Street Barn, it could have been a scene from times gone past.
The first dance, to Etta James, “At last” was very apt as friends and family had been waiting 12 years for this wedding to happen. As ever the amazing DJ Chris Haslam from Chess played tunes into the night for the guests to enjoy. It was a a fantastic wedding to end 2013 with and it was a privilege to photograph. Thanks to Victoria Pearson for being my trusty assistant for the day. Here’s a taster of their day.
